About Us

The Knowledge Management Unit (KMU) is part of the UNDP Regional Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean and is the responsible facility for implementing UNDP knowledge management strategy in the region. The KMU, which is mainly based in Bogota with a small liaison team in Panama, is essentially a support team that provides technical backstopping and methodological advice for knowledge systematization and tools development, produces technological tools for knowledge sharing and collaborative work, and fosters research and innovation to enhance the value-added and the efficiency of development initiatives and projects.

The KMU provides support and advice to UNDP Country Offices in LAC, UNDP regional clusters, UN Agencies' regional offices and other development partners. To respond to their demands, the KMU is equipped with a team of experts in knowledge management, technological platforms for knowledge sharing, generic KM instruments and methodologies for systematization and product development, and seed financial resources for KM training (see diagram below for illustrative information on the KMU services model).

This platform is now being adopted globally by UNFPA.
